October dream event permissions

Hello! This is a Lite version of what Cole's permissions post will be should he ever permanently get his mind reading and empathy back. But since this is just for October's dream event, here's the main things you can partake in:

• Cole reading your character's thoughts and recollections

• Cole sensing your character's emotions

• Your character being unable to see Cole unless he draws their attention

• Your character forgetting/starting to forget Cole (assuming they've, y'know, met him)

Basically, the way I'll approach this is any introspection you choose to include in your tags is free game for Cole to detect (as I, the player, am unfortunately unable to read minds). This doesn't necessarily mean he'll make a show of the fact he can do so, but he is prone to latch onto things he can try to help. And occasionally ask invasive questions. And repeat what he hears out loud....

While Cole can read into people's older memories, I'm mainly focusing on surface thoughts to keep things simple. But if you do want Cole to read something deeper or more specific off of your character (such as a memory/emotion/secret/general mindset/etc), either let me know here or just be sure to include details of it in your tags so Cole can read it.

That said, please respond with:

Is it okay for Cole to read your character's mind and emotions during the dream event? yes/no/other*

And any other details/conditions/questions you'd like to include! If the answer is no I will assume he is unable to read them at all, same as in the normal void.

For his invisibility and being easily forgotten, I'm leaving that entirely up to player discretion- they're passive traits so Cole won't know up front if they're in effect or not. Your character doesn't have to be affected by either, it's just an option if you'd like to play with it.

*If your character will have abilities that let them block out and/or sense Cole's abilities, you can let me know about that too. You know. If you want to.

So, I'm Opting In here, provided you're comfortable with it. Opting in on sensing of her emotions pretty easily, along with her thoughts. (Hint, she's JEALOUS, hehehe) And I don't mind the invisibility, but since they're both spirits why don't we pass on the easily forgotten part since spirits themselves don't usually miss out on each other.

How do you feel about that option?

ALSO AS A BONUS... so he actually has a friend in his canon with a very similar invisibility/being forgotten kind of deal! Add is only semi-aware of it, but that's something I might lean into a bit since he'd find it weirdly familiar (even if he can't remember why it's so familiar whoops rip).

Sensing Merlin's emotions is fine! Or, in actuality, it's kind of a lack thereof. Merlin will be genuinely... mildly excited? pleased? about finally getting to use his powers again (and finally having access to dreams again) but it's not going to be enough to get a major reaction from him. So, kind of muted. He's weird. :D

Mindreading could be iiiiiinteresting but would depend on what seems feasible/would make sense, I guess. That is, would it potentially help RP-wise for Cole to find out/pick up on bits of Merlin's secrets, or would it be better to just maintain the status quo for now?

For the invisibility and such things, does that normally apply to other spiritual beings and such, or just ordinary humans/mortals/what have you?

very belatedly, I haven't even tagged into the event yet weeps-- for mindreading, it's up to you! While Cole may prod and ask questions about things he doesn't fully understand just from reading it, he won't otherwise react negatively to something he learns unless he finds it an imminent threat of some kind, e.g. you killed a bunch of people in the past? That's fine so long as you don't intend to hurt people now!! If you're concerned about him sharing any of Merlin's secrets, he generally won't or will only mention it in vague cryptic ways (though OOCly I can also just have him not bring things up), unless, again, he finds it an imminent threat.

For invisibility etc, it kind of varies tbh. Some supernatural beings have been unaffected but some have, and there are also signs that his invisibility can be stronger if he's intentionally focusing on it. So I'll leave that up to your discretion too! Merlin could be immune to it if you want while still sensing it's a thing if he's sensitive to things like that, or he could be affected if you want to play with that instead, or somewhere in the middle- again, however you feel like approaching it.

Nah, Merlin's not a threat. The worst with him is his sense of mischief... and the fact that he doesn't really have any qualms about using or even sacrificing some people for the sake of a greater good. But no actual deliberate nastiness! His secrets are more along the lines of his genuine feelings on various things, certain doubts he keeps strictly to himself, etc.

And hmmm I'm leaning towards letting Merlin be able to see him, particularly in the event because of the dreams connection, as being half-incubus gives Merlin the ability to enter and manipulate other peoples' dreams and such. But now that I think about it, that reasoning kind of parallels the connection between spirits and the Fade too so maybe that'd apply to the waking world too, hmmm.... :|a

Yep, that's fine with me! The forgetting and invisibility is really entirely up to however you wanna (or don't want to) play with it.
